I recently finished the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This blog post is not to serve as a review. Rather, I noted some of the quotes that I thought were inspirational:

“Our only limitations are those we set up in our own minds” (page 33)

“… nothing is impossible to the person who backs desire with enduring faith” (page 40)

“There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge” (page 68)

“Our only limitation, within reason, lies in the development and use of our imagination” (page 98)

“… an idea is an impulse of thought that impels action by an appeal to the imagination.” (page 109)

“Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth.” (page 158)

“If you are influenced by the opinion of others, you will have no desire of your own” (page 158)

“You have a brain and mind of your own. Use it and reach your own decisions.” (page 159)

“The basis of persistence is the power of will.” (page 175)

“The starting point of all achievement is desire.” (page 176)

“Without persistence, you will be defeated, even before you start.” (page 178)

“The majority of people permit relatives, friends and the public at large to so influence them that they cannot live their own lives, because they fear criticism.” (page 184)

“The world is ruled, and the destiny of civilization is established, by the human emotions.” (page 218)

“Life is energy, if it is anything. If neither energy nor matter can be destroyed, of course life cannot be destroyed. Life, like other forms of energy, may be passed through various processes of transition or change, but it cannot be destroyed. Death is mere transition” (page 273, in the section of “The Fear of Death”)

“Your business in life is, presumably, to achieve success. To be successful, you must find peace of mind, acquire the material needs of life and, above all, attain happiness.” (page 276)
