How To Ask AI Better Questions, Using AI
TLDR; check out my Chrome Extension “Better Questions”
There’s a concept of “prompt engineering” where you learn how to ask AI a question.
I wanted to use AI as a shortcut for learning about Prompt Engineering.
Most of the time when AI gives a bad answer it’s because you didn’t ask the right question.
I wanted AI to help me ask the right question
I didn’t want:
“Rewrite my prompt to sound better”
I wanted:
“Help me think about my prompt before I ask it”
I didn’t want better phrasing, I wanted better thinking.
After some research
Most existing tools:
- ✅Improve structure (formatting, clarity)
- ❌ Ignore missing intent, constraints, clarity, and unclear goals
Other tools polish bad thinking instead of improving it
What This Extension Does
It’s a layer that sits between you and the AI prompt input box.
This makes sure you’re asking the right question in the first place.
It doesn’t improve prompts- it improves the thinking that creates them.
What does it do?
I wanted AI to tell me:
- Did I have any missing content/context?
- Have a clear goal?
- Ask me clarifying questions that I should answer ahead of time
- Make assumptions, and re-write my prompt using those assumptions, such that I can easily copy/paste it back into the original input screen
How To Use It
- Download the Chrome Extension
- Open the AI website (ex. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
- Put in your prompt
- Press the button “Improve My Question” (or Ctrl + Shift + K)
- Press the button “Analyze Prompt” (if needed)
- Press the button “Used Suggested Prompt”
Where to get the extension
